In 2013, together with local Costa Ricans, we decided on a unique nature and species conservation project . Together with our guests, we reforested almost 8 hectares of rainforest and built the La Tigra Rainforestlodge – an oasis in the middle of the rainforest, which allows our guests to visit the project and spend the night there. In 2017 we bought a new area, the ” Reserva Bosque La Tigra “, which also needs to be reforested. Be there and support us! Even if you don’t visit the project on your trip, you can take part, because a small school class will plant the tree for each guest – as part of project work.
In January 1997, Rainer Stoll decided to switch to the tourism industry and set up his own business with Waschbär Reisen. Nature and environmental protection has always been in his blood and so he worked out his first sustainable travel program to Costa Rica. Our employees are specialists by vocation , because every Costa Rica travel consultant knows the country very well from their own stays on site. We can give you the best routes (adapted to dry and rainy seasons), show you hidden natural beauties and create extraordinary experiences. Among the latter we count, for example, the egg-laying of leatherback turtles or the observation of humpback whales directly off the coast. Because such details make a trip something very special. And if something doesn’t work out the way you want it to on site, our partner agency is there to help and advise you. We have complete trust in our agency, because the owners are former travel-to-nature employees and know exactly what is important to our guests.
Should there be an emergency during the trip, we can be reached at any time via an emergency number. However, this should only be used in real emergencies and not if, for example, the flight is delayed or you do not like an accommodation, etc. If you have such problems, always contact our partner agency with German-speaking staff, who can help you quickly and easily. Due to the time difference, we can usually only help later.
Our group trips always have a certain minimum number of participants – usually 2-4 people – which must be reached so that we can guarantee departure. So if you see a group trip with us that is “guaranteed” , the minimum number of participants has already been reached and the trip will take place in any case. So you can plan your vacation in peace and don’t have to worry that the trip will have to be canceled due to a lack of participants.
We are not a package tour operator. Of course, we also have trips in the program that include arrival and departure, accommodation and the program. These are a few group trips that we have tailored to the needs of the travelers through our experience and thus result in a coherent overall concept. We can organize almost everything, individually or as a group trip on the date you want for your family or friends. You tell us what you like, what you would like to do on vacation, what type of accommodation you prefer and how long you would like to stay in one place. As a German quality tour operator, we are protected against insolvency. If you book a trip with us, you will receive a travel price guarantee certificate from R+V Versicherung with your booking confirmation, which will cover your trip in the event of travel-to-nature’s insolvency. You will either receive a full refund of the travel price or, if you are already on your way, you can complete your trip without any problems and travel back.
All our tour guides in Costa Rica are licensed by the ICT (Instituto Costarricense Turismo). This guarantees fair remuneration for the work of the tour guides and also protects you in the event of an unexpected event. Here is an example: you have an accident while hiking and need to be rescued and transported away. If your guide does not have an ICT license, no Costa Rican insurance company will cover the damage and you will have to pay for it yourself.
Our coaches are all licensed and not older than 3 years. They are subject to special TÜV conditions (they are checked twice a year) and are all fitted with belts. The buses that we use for family trips have child seats and boosters on board for all children. This is not required by law, but for us it is relevant to safety and therefore a basic requirement for transporting children.
The US dollar is subject to constant fluctuations and it is not uncommon for the dollar to strengthen and your travel price to increase as a result. Especially with an early travel booking, which is recommended for a Costa Rica trip if you want to travel in the high season, there can be significant exchange rate fluctuations. So the trip to the travel date z. B. 20% more expensive than when booking. We do not pass this price increase on to our customers because we hedge the currency risk. In this way we can guarantee your travel price and you can start your journey relaxed.
Travel-to-nature pays its taxes in Costa Rica. One would think that this is a matter of course when you use both the infrastructure and the security structures of a country and drive on its roads. Unfortunately, black money accounts abroad make it possible to avoid paying taxes in Costa Rica.
It is very important to us to do something good for the local people with tourism. We don’t just say that, we mean it. We want hands-on projects so that our guests can get a feel for them. Right from the start, we have supported the Ecocentro Danaus , which has now become a small paradise for all kinds of animals.
