Nature Experience in Costa Rica

Conservation is no stranger to Costa Ricans

In Costa Rica, nature conservation is very important! Thus, more than a quarter of Costa Rica’s area consists of protected areas. Some of the numerous national parks have even been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of their unique ecosystems. Costa Rica also offers a very special experience of nature, characterized by a unique wealth of species. The geographic location in the middle of the tropics allows all tropical and exotic features and also ensures a pleasant climate.

Two oceans border Costa Rica: The wild Pacific, which attracts numerous surfers, and the Atlantic, which is home to the dreamy Caribbean coast. An extensive mountain range stretches across the country and provides dizzying heights, as well as numerous  volcanoes . Together with different winds, these geographic conditions create different tropical vegetation zones: dry forests, savannas, rainforests, oak forests, mangrove swamps, cloud forests, marshes and coral reefs. All this and much more characterizes the Costa Rican landscape.

Make your Costa Rica vacation an extraordinary experience

Due to different altitudes and climatic influences, Costa Rica offers a well-equipped habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. Iguanas, sloths, armadillos, hummingbirds, macaws, howler monkeys, toucans, cougars, dolphins, colorful frogs and many more can be seen here in their natural habitat. With wild orchids, colorful flowers, lichens, ferns and rainforest trees, the flora also has a lot to offer and makes Costa Rica a colorful oasis.

Here you can experience nature and wildlife as close and genuine as it is hardly possible anywhere else. Spend the night in the middle of the jungle and wake up to a concert of howler monkeys, watch the agile hummingbirds buzzing around your comfortable hammock, or lie in wait for a glimpse of the snuggly sloths, which are usually whole cavorting in the treetops – as the name suggests, pretty lazy. Selected lodges give you the feeling of being in the middle of nature’s living room.
