Your trip could look something like this...

Day 1 & 2: Culture and Volcanoes

Most people arrive at the international airport in San José. Even if many continue their journey directly, it is worthwhile to consider a visit to the Irazú or Poás volcanos. Both are easily accessible from the central valley and are among the most spectacular volcanoes in Costa Rica. Take a look into the blue crater lake of Poás or enjoy the view from Irazú, the highest volcano of the country towering 11,300 feet above sea level.

San José also has a lot to offer. Take a guided tour of the National Theater, stroll through the central market or explore the city’s numerous parks.

Day 3 & 4: Caribbean Paradise

After exploring the Central Valley, you can now continue to the Southern Caribbean. On the way there, ride the wild waters on a rafting tour to get your adrenaline pumping.

Once you arrive in the Caribbean, it’s time to relax! Rest under palm trees or grab a bike and explore the beaches of the region. Surfing is also an option.

In the Cahuita National Park you can spot a lot of animals and explore the most important coral reef of Costa Rica while snorkeling.

In the backcountry, the indigenous people of the BriBri are waiting to show you their traditions. In the evenings you can enjoy a typical Caribbean “Rice & Beans” with fresh fish.

Day 5 & 6: Tropical Forests

It’s time to relax and enjoy the rainforest. You can visit the canals of Tortuguero, the region of Boca Tapada and also La Fortuna with the mighty Arenal volcano. As a very special experience we recommend the La Tigra Rainforest Lodge. Here you will stay in tented camps with comfortable beds and private bathrooms in the middle of the jungle.

If you still haven’t had enough of the forest, you can continue on to Monteverde. The fairy-tale-like cloud forest will enchant you and those who love adrenaline will get their money’s worth on a ziplining tour.

Indulge in a gourmet visit to the local dairy to taste test cheeses learn the secrets of the black gold on a coffee tour.

Day 7 & 8: Volcanic Activity

Costa Rica is a country of volcanoes. You should not miss La Fortuna with the impressive Arenal Volcano. The imposing cone will immediately captivate you. You can have exciting excursions and then relax in one of the numerous thermal baths.

Action lovers will also get their money’s worth here with offers such as canopy (ziplinging), rafting or canyoning.

You can experience volcanic activity up close in the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Here things bubble and smoke at every corner and there is even a mini-volcano to marvel at.

Day 9: Beach & adventure

End your trip at the Pacific coast with more than 631 miles of coastline.  Marvel at the turquoise blue sea beaches with fantastic sunsets and great waves for surfing or discover a fascinating underwater world.

There are also several national parks to explore, such as Manuel Antonio or the Marino Ballena Marine National Park.

If you want to experience the wild Costa Rica, travel to the Osa Peninsula in the very south and dive deep into the jungle and one of the most biodiverse areas in the world.

Day 10: Reflect and Return with Stories

Happy and exhausted from your exciting trip, you can now return to San José and reflect on your experiences. Your personal Costa Rica trip could look like this or similar. Let us advise you and create a free custom plan!
